The sisters have gone Hollywood.
“Nunset Boulevard: The Nunsense Hollywood Bowl Show” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, Richland Township.
The latest installment of Dan Goggin’s international hit “Nunsense” franchise has the Little Sisters of Hoboken traveling to Tinseltown, where they have been invited to perform at the Hollywood Bowl.
After they arrive, the sisters find out it isn’t the more famous Hollywood Bowl they’ve been booked into, but the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama – a bowling alley with a cabaret lounge.
Cindy Williams of “Laverne and Shirley” fame will play Mother Superior.
At the lounge, the sisters must contend with announcements from the bowling alley public-address system as well as the activity on the lanes.
Then, they hear about a movie producer across the street who is auditioning for roles in his new movie musical about the life of Dolores Hart, a famous movie star who became a nun.
The sisters think they are naturals for a part and race off to audition during the show’s intermission.
The cast also features Bambi Jones, Christine Mild, Jeanne Tinker, Stephanie Wahl, Kimberly Chesser and Gwendolyn Jones.
The “Nunsense” series was created by Goggin, who was educated in Catholic schools.
The original “Nunsense” premiered in New York in 1985, where it won four Outer Critics’ Circle Awards.
“Nunsense” played in New York for more than 10 years and has been presented all over the world in more than 8,000 productions.
Following the success of the original production, Goggin added to his franchise with “Nunsense 2: The Second Coming,” “Sister Amnesia’s Country Western Nunsense Jamboree,” “Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical,” “Meshuggah Nuns: The Ecumenical Nunsense,” “Nunsensations: The Nunsense Vegas Revue,” “Nunsense A-Men” and “Sister Robert Anne’s Cabaret Class.”
