Religion in brief | Youth Revival today in Central Park

The seventh annual City Wide Youth Revival sponsored by Abundant Life Ministry House of Prayer will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. today in Central Park, downtown Johns-town. School supplies will be given to the youth from 2 to 3.

Chickaree Union to host hymn sing

Indiana/Cambria County Hymn sing will be held from

2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Chickaree Union Church, 476 Whitetail Road, Route 22.

St. James’ ministry celebrating date

Mime Ministry will celebrate its 12th anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 400 Pine St., Johnstown.

Author to speak at Kaufman church

Dwight Roth, author of “Kinship Concealed: Amish Mennonite/African Connection,” will speak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Kaufman Mennonite Church, 916 Miller Picking Road, Davidsville.

Concert scheduled at Emmanuel Baptist

Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass will present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 425 Luther Road, Richland Township. Cost is $10 per person, $15 per couple and $25 per family of three or more.

Arbutus church

The Rev. Belmont UM

The Rev. Keith A. Dunn will deliver the message “Showing Love,” with Scripture from Colossians 1:1-14, during the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship services at Belmont United Methodist Church, 107 Coldren St., Johnstown. Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

Bethany UM

Joel Shumaker will speak on “Developing Dynamic Disciples” from the Book of Lamentations 3:19-24 at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service at Bethany United Methodist Church, 112 Leventry Road, Johnstown.

Sunday school will begin at 10:45. Vacation Bible school will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Beth Sholom

A Shabbat Chazon/Devarim  service will be held at 9:30 a.m.  today at Beth Sholom Congregation, 700 Indiana St., Johnstown. Tisha B’Av eve service will begin at 8:30 Monday. On Friday, a Shabbat eve service will be held at 7:30 and candlelighting will take place at 8:24.

Bethel UM

Pastor Don Poole will share the message “To the Unknowing,” based on Acts 3:1-26, during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1021 Forest Hills Drive, Salix. Sunday school will begin at 9:45. Registration for vacation Bible school boot camp will begin at 6 p.m. and continue from 6 to        8:30 p.m. through Thursday.

Christ UM

The Rev. Kathleen Schoeneck will speak on “The Rescue,” based on Luke 10:25-37, at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Christ United Methodist Church, Ohio Street and Cypress Avenue in the Moxham section of Johnstown. Sunday school will begin at 10:45.

Community church

Pastor Charles H. Zimmerman will speak on “Greatness Is not Earned, but Given” at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Community Open Door Church, Menoher Boulevard and Luzerne Street, Johnstown.

A stop-and-go Communion and driveway Communion for the handicapped will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Conemaugh church

Pastor Horace Derr will deliver the message “Please Meet an Important Person,” with Scripture from John       16:7-16 and 32-33, at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Conemaugh Church of the Brethren, 1256 William Penn Ave., Johnstown. Sunday school will begin at 9:30. Prayer and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and a men’s fellowship meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Dunmyer Lutheran

Dunmyer Lutheran Church will hold vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Monday through Friday at the church, 547 Schoolhouse Road, Johns-town. The theme is “Kingdom Rock.” A picnic is set for Friday.

Ebensburg UM

The Rev. J.R. Virgin will deliver the message, “But God ... I Can’t” during the 8, 10:15 and 11:30 a.m. Sunday worship services at Ebensburg United Methodist Church, 100 E. Highland Ave.

Elton Zion UM

Allen P. Bixel, certified lay speaker, will bring the message “Meeting the Good Samaritan,” based on Luke 10:25-37, during the 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services at Elton Zion United Methodist Church, 1089 Mount Airy Drive, Johnstown.

Ferndale UM

A vacation Bible school program will be held during the 10:40 a.m. Sunday service at Ferndale United Methodist Church, 701 Vickroy Ave., Johnstown.

First Lutheran

Pastor Robert Wagner will preach and celebrate Communion at 5:30 tonight at First Lutheran Church, 415 Vine St., Johnstown. The Rev. Jennifer Oaks will preach and preside at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service.

Holy Trinity

Worship services for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., Berlin, will be held at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Johnstown Fellowship

Pastor Gary L. Tustin will speak about “The Crown Has Come to Ziklag,” based on 1 Samuel 30, during the   8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship services at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road. Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

Connection Café will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Bible study with Pastor Jim Gay at 7, along with PACT youth and children’s classes.

Laurel Trinity

Moxham Lutheran

The Rev. John Snyder will deliver the message “Consequences,” based on Amos 7:7-17, during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Windber Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave. A service with a message “Enlightened,” taken from Mark 9:1-13, will be held at 7 p.m.
