Religion in brief | Ministers will lead trip to Holy Land


Johnstown —

-- Westmont UM

Pastor Kevin Rea will preach on “Only an Empty Cup Can Be Filled” during the 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship service at Westmont United Methodist Church, 1428 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

-- Zion Lutheran

Liturgy of Holy Communion will be celebrated during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust St., downtown Johnstown, with Gospel readings from Mark 10:17-31.

The congregation will celebrate its 160th anniversary and have a rededication of the church building during the service that will include parts in German.

The Rev. Michael A. Van Dyke, pastor; the Rev. Warren S. Karshin, pastor emertius and son of the congregation; and the Rev. Wilbert A. Boerstler, son of congregation, will participate.

A reception will follow.

Church school will begin at 9, followed by fellowship at 9:30.

A midweek Liturgy of Holy Communion will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John’s Memorial Chapel.
