High School Volleyball Roundup: No. 2 West Branch tops Bishop Carroll

West Branch swept into Thursday’s District 6 Class A volleyball semifinals with a 25-9, 25-16 25-9 victory over Bishop Carroll on Tuesday night at the Warriors court in Morrisdale.
Sunny Settle had 12 assists for the Huskies, who also got four service points and five kills from Katie Wyland and four kills from Dani Link.
“I am so proud of the girls,” Bishop Carroll coach Joe Skura said. “They gave their all. West Branch is ranked second in the state, and they played very well. They are impressive. Bishop Carroll has done things that no other volleyball team at the school has done before. They left there with their heads up, and I’m proud of them.”
West Branch will face Bishop Guilfoyle on Thursday in the semifinals at a site and time to be determined. The Huskies end the season with a 14-8 mark.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA - Top-seeded Northern Cambria sailed into Thursday’s semifinals against Heritage Conference foe Penns Manor with a 25-19, 25-11, 25-18 victory over Conemaugh Valley.

SOMERSET – Penn Cambria, the fourth seed, advanced to the semifinals on Thursday against top-seeded Philipsburg-Osceola with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-13 victory over No. 5 Chestnut Ridge.

SOMERSET – Second-seeded Somerset defeated No. 7 Marion Center 25-15, 25-19, 25-20 to earn a berth opposite Bellefonte in the semifinals on Thursday at a site and time to be determined.
Philipsburg-Osceola 3 Richland 0
PHILIPSBURG – Top-seeded Philipsburg-Osceola eliminated Richland 25-9, 25-13, 25-12 to advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals.
