Nan Temyer Decoration

Nan Temyer of Hooversville writes that she hangs this ornament in memory of her late grandmother, Ada Reckner. “Every year I place this ornament on our tree and it takes me back to a simpler time of waist-high snow, sled riding in her yard with all the cousins and the firemen’s Christmas party of cartoons and a treat of a popcorn ball, an orange and a box of candy afterward,” Temyer said. “Grandma Ada died of breast cancer in 1970 and this was her favorite broach. She wore it with the navy blue lace dress (that) she saved for special occasions. I hang it with one of the hair pins she used to pull from her hair bun when she was short of regular ornament hangers.”
