Westmont Hilltop girls advance to Class AA semis

Using a goal apiece from Shyleigh Hughes and Morgan Milligan, the Westmont Hilltop girls defeated LHAC rival Bedford 2-0 in Thursday’s District 6 Class AA quarterfinal at Richland High School.

The Hilltoppers move on to face Juniata, which beat Huntingdon

4-0 in a quarterfinal match played Thursday at Bellefonte.

“We played a whole game,” Westmont Hilltop coach Juan Valencia said. “We hope to continue one game at a time.” 

Bedford ends its season at

9-8-2.

“They are a very competitive team,” Valencia said of the Bisons. “They have a good team. they played hard and they pushed hard.”

Bishop Guilfoyle 4,

Bishop McCort 0

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Alyssa McGhee scored all four goals for Bishop Guilfoyle as the top-seeded Lady Marauders blanked No. 5 Bishop McCort 4-0 in a District 6 Class A girls soccer semifinal matchup on Thursday night.

Marauder goalkeeper Gabby Smith recorded 12 saves in the shutout victory, while Mackenzie Barbin made 10 saves for the Crushers (6-9-4). Bishop Guilfoyle (18-1-0), which faces Richland in the district title match on Tuesday, outshot Bishop McCort 14-12 for the game. Both teams recorded four corner kicks.
