In brief: Hazmat team called to Seven Springs

SEVEN SPRINGS — Somerset County’s hazmat team was sent to Seven Springs’ water treatment plant to shut down a chlorine leak Sunday morning, Somerset 911 officials said.

A 100-gallon chlorine tank was leaking inside the Middlecreek Township treatment plant, 911 officials said. One treatment plant operator was taken to Somerset Hospital for treatment after complaining about being light-headed, a report on the county 911 department’s website said.

Mud on the Mountain slated for Saturday

Seven Springs Mountain Resort presents the return of Mud on the Mountain on Saturday.

Twenty-five challenging obstacles woven into 7.73-miles of demanding mountain terrain will have participants from as far away as Britain traversing ponds, scaling boulder fields and clawing up impossible inclines.

Several new obstacles will be featured.

Mud on the Mountain will offer the Elite Heat, a timed heat for participants who want an additional challenge.

The Elite Heat will start at 9 a.m. with the top five overall men and women receiving a custom-made trophy created with parts from snowmaking towers.

Registration materials, a course map and photos are available online at www.mudonthemountain.com.

Registration is $85 per person.

All participants must be at least 18 years old.

Visitor passes will be available for $10 each, which will allow family members and spectators to travel to the top of the course on the resort’s chairlifts.

Wings of Hope schedules annual run

Wings of Hope, a Hooversville area charity whose mission is helping families fight cancer, will hold its annual Great Santa Run on Nov. 22 in downtown Johnstown.

The two-mile run or walk will begin at 5:40 p.m. at Point Stadium, just a short time before the annual Christmas parade.

The cost for registering by Nov. 10 is $15. Thereafter, the cost is $18. For children age 12 and younger, the cost is $5.

Registration will be held from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. at Point Stadium prior to the race.
