Snow moves PIAA football games Saturday to Sunday

PHILADELPHIA — Ahead of an expected third dose of winter weather in less than a week, two state high school championship games are being moved from Saturday to Sunday because of snow moving through Pennsylvania and into the northeast.

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association says the Class AA title game pitting Imhotep Charter against South Fayette will be Sunday at 1 p.m. The class AAAA game featuring St. Joseph’s Prep against Central Catholic will kick off at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The league wants to ensure the safety of players and fans traveling to the games.

The mid-state is forecast to get between five to eight inches of snow on Saturday.

The PIAA says Friday night’s Class A and Class AAA title games will go on.
