JOHNSTOWN — An inmate from Blair County housed at a corrections facility in Johnstown was sent to the Cambria County Prison on Wednesday after police said he tried to choke other inmate.

State police in Ebensburg charged Bradley Samuel Weyandt, 31, of East Freedom, with aggravated assault, assault by a prisoner, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Weyandt and Samuel Sellers were inmates at the Community Corrections Center downtown at the time of the Aug. 24 incident, troopers said in a criminal complaint.

Sellers reported that he was playing cards when Weyandt came from behind and placed his arm around Sellers’ neck, police said. Sellers said he struggled to get free and started losing consciousness while seeing “black spots.” He was freed after staff intervened, troopers said.

Weyandt was arraigned by on-call District Judge Leonard Grecek of Roxbury and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $200,000 bond.
