Police searching for Portage man

JOHNSTOWN — A man who was jailed for soliciting three people to rob and beat his estranged wife is being sought for harassing the woman just days after getting out of jail.

A manhunt is underway for George Lucas Lane, 34, of Portage.

West Hills Regional police said Lane was released from the Cambria County Prison on Friday, and two days later, sent harassing emails to his estranged wife’s email account at Forever Broadcasting Corp. on Plaza Drive in Lower Yoder Township.

Lane also is alleged to have placed an anonymous telephone call to Forever Broadcasting on Monday, reporting that George Lane had been killed in a car crash on state Route 53.

Lane later called Forever Broadcasting identifying himself as Portage police Chief Ed Miller investigating the reported crash, police said.

Lane had been in jail charged with solicitation to commit robbery, aggravated assault and access device fraud for incidents at Forever Broadcasting on July 26 and 29.

Police said Lane and three others were involved in damages to his estranged wife’s 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser and six company vehicles from various radio stations. Police believe Lane was attempting to get the woman fired from her job.

Lane also wanted the woman assaulted and robbed, police said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 1-800-281-1680.
