Police: Man jailed after allegedly stealing meat

JOHNSTOWN — A Johnstown man was jailed late Wednesday after police said he allegedly stole pork chops and steaks from a store and then crashed his vehicle during the getaway.  

In a criminal complaint, city police said Trevor L. Madison, 24, scuffled with a loss-prevention official at Bilo Market on Osborne Street, after allegedly stealing $17 worth of meat.

Madison then jumped into a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and sped away crashing on the railroad tracks in front of the store, police said.

Police caught Madison after a foot pursuit.

Police said they also recovered a backpack full of marijuana that Madison had been carrying.

He faces a rash of charges, including robbery and drug possession.

Madison, of the 300 block of Edith Avenue, was arraigned by on-call District Judge Leonard Grecek of Roxbury and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000.
