Franklin Regional High School to open to families

MURRYSVILLE — A Pittsburgh-area school where a student stabbed 21 others and a security guard last week was set to hold an open house of sorts so students and parents can look over the premises before classes resume on Wednesday.

Students are not required to visit Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville on Tuesday, but were being encouraged to do so as part of a three-day effort to return to normal after 16-year-old Alex Hribal’s attack on April 9.

Teachers returned to the school Monday after attending a counseling session, and counselors will be available Tuesday if parents or students feel a need to speak with them while visiting the school.

Hribal remains in a detention center on attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges. Four students remained hospitalized.
