Authories identify woman, son killed by carbon monoxide in York County

JACOBUS — Authorities in York County have released the names of a mother and teenage son killed by carbon monoxide after a car was left running in the garage.

Coroner Pam Gay identified the victims as 44-year-old Nancy Rosenbaum-Hardy and 15-year-old Preston Hardy.

She said a relative found their bodies in their beds in the Jacobus home on Wednesday morning.  Two dogs were also found dead, one next to each of the victims.

Gay said the deaths appear to have been accidental, due to a car left running in the home’s attached garage. She said she didn’t see a carbon monoxide detector, which she said “probably” could have saved their lives.”

Rosenbaum-Hardy was co-owner of the TLC Montessori School in Jacobus, which opened in 2000.
