Johnstown men head to trial for alleged pistol-whip and robbery

JOHNSTOWN — Two Johnstown men will stand trial, accused of pistol-whipping a man during a robbery at a West End home in January.

Isiaha Anthony Waulk, 18, and Sean Castapheny, 19, were ordered held for court following a preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Michael Musulin of Johnstown.

In a criminal complaint, Johnstown police said three men with bandanas covering their faces forced their way into a home on the 100 block of Strayer Street on Jan. 23.

One of the men struck a victim with a pistol, and one of the men pointed a handgun at a second victim, police said.

The second victim was able to deflect the handgun that was pointed at him and when it discharged, the bullet struck the floor, police said.

The robbers made off with money and a cellphone, police said.

Castapheny and Waulk face charges including robbery, aggravated assault, theft and receiving stolen property.

Waulk, of the 900 block of Ash Street, and Castapheny, whose address is unknown, were returned to the Cambria County Prison.
