Johnstown City Manager Kristen Denne has resigned.
She made the announcement during a City Council meeting on Wednesday. Denne said she plans to “pursue another professional opportunity.”
All seven council members – Mayor Frank Janakovic, William Gentile, Marie Mock, Pete Vizza, David Vitovich, Nunzio Johncola and Frederick Mickel – voted to accept her resignation. It is effective June 20. Denne and all members of council declined to comment further following the meeting.
“It’s been a pleasure working with you and we wish you well,” Janakovic said before the vote was taken.
Carlos Gunby, the city’s finance director, was named the acting city manager.
“It requires the void be filled until it’s filled permanently,” said Gunby. “For the good of the city, I’m willing to step in and fill that void.”
Denne has been city manager since 2010.
In January 2013, council extended Denne’s contract for two years with an option for a third.
