Everett man tried to kill neighbor, state police say

EVERETT — An Everett area man has been charged with attempting to kill his neighbor on Monday.

State police said William Maenner and Jeffrey Sheeder, 24, became involved in an altercation around 2 p.m.

Maenner retrieved a loaded shotgun from his apartment and fired one shot away from the residence. Sheeder wrestled the shotgun away from him, police said.

Maenner went back into his apartment and got a loaded handgun before kicking in the door of Sheeder’s apartment and shooting at Sheeder several times, police said. One of the bullets struck Sheeder in a hand.

Maenner, 45, of the 1500 block of Ashcom Road,  was taken into custody at the scene.

Maenner, who faces a number of other charges including burglary and aggravated assault, was arraigned before District Judge Tonya Osman of Schellsburg and lodged in the Bedford County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
