Wreck claims life of Berlin motorist

Passenger injured

SHANKSVILLE — A motorist was killed and his passenger injured in the second of two crashes in which the driver was involved around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Stonycreek Township.

Dean William Blough, 48, Berlin, who was driving a car, was identified by state police as the deceased. His passenger, Georgiann Ruschak, 49, of Beallsville, Ohio, received what police termed a major injury and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. She was listed in serious condition on Friday afternoon.

Police said Blough was passing another vehicle on Stutzmantown Road when he struck the driver’s side of that vehicle, then drove away going east.

About 10 minutes later, Blough was traveling north on Lambertsville Road at an apparent high rate of speed when his car went into the southbound lane and struck a van driven by Lynn Frazier of Central City. Frazier was not injured, police said.

After the impact with Frazier’s vehicle, Blough’s car struck an embankment and flipped several times. Blough and Ruschak were ejected. Neither was wearing a seat belt, police said.
