Rape suspect waives hearing

— An East Taylor Township man will stand trial, accused of raping a 17-year-old girl, authorities said.

Jeffrey M. Knepper, 45, of the 100 block of Bansky Avenue, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco.

Township police said the girl was staying with Knepper and his girlfriend, 42-year-old Rosemary A. Stonerook, on June 27.

Knepper allegedly entered her bedroom and sexually assaulted her, but she was able to get out of the house and flee to a relative’s home, according to a criminal complaint.

The girl later returned to the residence and Knepper again accosted her, this time raping her, police said.

Court papers say the 17-year-old told police that Stonerook had her pick up Knepper at his mother’s house.

Stonerook allegedly took the girl’s cellphone and driver’s license and told her to tell authorities “as little as possible.”

Knepper faces a rash of charges including rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and statutory sexual assault. He is free on bond.

Stonerook’s case was continued because of an attorney conflict. She will appear in court at a later date.

She is charged with endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, reckless endangerment and hindering apprehension. Stonerook is free on bond.
