Children’s book club to read ‘Ella Enchanted’

A book club for children in grades 4 to 6 featuring “Ella Enchanted” will be held from

4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the children’s department at Cambria County Library, 248 Main St. in downtown Johnstown.

The program is in anticipation of author Gail Carson Levine’s visit to the sixth annual Children’s Book Festival of Johnstown, which will be held April 4-6 at Bottle Works, 411 Third Ave., and its Art Works building, 413 Third Ave., both in the Cambria City neighborhood.

Levine is an internationally acclaimed, New York Times best-selling author.

“Ella Enchanted” is her Newbery Honor-winning novel that was made into a popular film starring Anne Hathaway. The story is a twist on the Cinderella fairy tale featuring a strong female protagonist and adventurous fantasy plot.

A movie night featuring the film adaptation of the book will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 1 at the library. The event is free and open to all children and families.

Books are available at the library for borrowing or purchase.

All book club participants will receive two tickets to meet Levine at a private meet-and-greet April 4 at Bottle Works.

Readers also will get the chance to meet author Debbie Dadey and author/illustrator James Warhola, who will attend the book festival.

To sign up for the book club meeting, call 536-5131, ext. 205.
