The Johnstown chapter of the National Organization for Women plans to honor a prominent local educator and musician at its annual banquet March 27.
The chapter will present Elizabeth Good, a Hollsopple resident, with the 2014 Ellen D. Hoffman Person of the Year award at the event, scheduled for 6 p.m. at The Boulevard Grill, 165 Southmont Blvd., Johnstown.
The award recognizes men and women who exemplify and practice feminist and leadership qualities that contribute to the community and inspire others.
Good recently retired from Westmont Hilltop High School, where she had a distinguished 35-year career as an educator. Her service included being director of choral music and producer of musicals.
She also is a classical pianist and serves as principal pianist for the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra.
Chapter President Debra Taczanowsky, who had been a colleague of Good at Westmont Hilltop, said Good has been an inspiration to her and others.
“Good has been a leader in arts and music education and has empowered numerous students through her teaching, vocal coaching and musical productions over the years,” Taczanowsky said.
“She also has been a friend to her colleagues and students as well.”
