W. Pa. man to change plea in porn threats case

PITTSBURGH — A western Pennsylvania man has been scheduled to change his not guilty plea to charges that he possessed child pornography and threatened to rape and murder a female U.S. postal inspector who helped investigate him.

Forty-nine-year-old Todd Markley, of Export, was scheduled to change his plea Thursday before a federal judge in Pittsburgh.

He was charged last year after authorities say he bought videos from a Los Angeles child porn distributor that was raided in 2006 and then ordered a catalog purporting to be from another child porn distributor in Charlotte, N.C., in 2011. In reality, the business was a sting operation run by U.S. postal inspectors.

Markley’s attorney didn’t immediately return phone and email messages for comment. It’s unclear whether he plans to plead guilty or no contest to all or some of the charges he faces.
