Update: Victims identified in Johnstown shooting

JOHNSTOWN — The Cambria County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the victims in a homicide that took place Wednesday night in Johnstown’s Minersville neighborhood.

They are Kevin L. Burt, 33, and Alicia J. Welborn, 35.

Both lived in the duplex on the 100 block of Benshoff Street where they were found. Chief Deputy Coroner Jeffrey Lees pronounced them dead at 10:18 p.m. Autopsies were performed Thursday at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

“Both received multiple gunshot wounds,” said Lees.

The Johnstown Police Department continues to investigate.

A motive is not known at this time.

“It’s too early to say right now,” said Chief Craig Foust. “There were signs of drug use in the residence.”

Foust said the department has not found any witnesses to the alleged crime. Two individuals, who are not considered suspects, reportedly discovered the bodies.

Friday’s editions of The Tribune-Democrat will have more on this developing story.
