CRESSON — Police say a Mount Aloysius College student faces charges after threatening on Twitter to slit his professor’s throat in front of the class.

The Altoona Mirror reports 19-year-old Anthony Will Briscoe has been expelled from Mount Aloysius College. He’s facing charges of making terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct. Investigators say he made the post Feb. 12.

Briscoe allegedly told officers the tweet was a joke posted for “entertainment” purposes.

College spokesman Jack Coyle says the school has zero tolerance for threats and that removing the student form campus was the appropriate measure.

Police say they found no weapons during a search of Briscoe’s dorm room. He allegedly told investigators he was “bored” in class and decided to send the tweet. It could not immediately be determined if he had an attorney.
