A Somerset woman was jailed Wednesday after she was accused of running down her boyfriend with his vehicle, causing him to fly over the hood, borough police said.
Crystal Gayle Powell, 28, of Donald Lane, argued with her live-in boyfriend, police said. As the man began walking away down the driveway, Powell allegedly climbed into his 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier and drove toward him.
“The impact sent (him) over the hood of the car, causing injury to his right leg,” police said in the criminal complaint.
The man declined medical treatment, officers said.
Powell drove away after hitting him, police said.
She told police she is 13 weeks pregnant with her boyfriend’s child.
Police said Powell complained of pain in the chest and abdomen that she said might have resulted from injuries suffered when she drove into a utility pole on Steppingstone Road after leaving her residence.
Police said they found damage to the vehicle but no evidence that Powell had struck a utility pole.
Powell was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
She was arraigned by on-call District Judge Douglas Bell of Meyersdale and sent to the Somerset County Jail after failing to post $1,000 bond.
