Police investigating body found near King Furniture

JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found this morning near the former King Furniture building on Adams Street.

It's believed the man is about 50 years old.

Police from Johnstown and Richland along with Cambria County detectives were interviewing residents. The scene was marked off with yellow police tape. Detectives were processing the scene, carrying items wrapped in brown paper bags.

Police have not released the name of the dead man. A neighbor said she did not know the man’s name but said he had been missing since Monday.

“He had been out drinking with friends,” Caryn Komar said. “No one saw him since.”

She said neighbors were alerted by a foul odor and went to investigate.

“My boyfriend went and looked at him,” Komar said. “It looked like he was beat up.”

It’s believed the man worked for a temporary employment agency.
