Cops: Woman tricked daughter into shoplifting

MCKEES ROCKS — Police say a western Pennsylvania woman tricked her 16-year-old daughter into helping her shoplift – by loading the teen’s baby stroller with cosmetics which the teen then pushed out of a department store.

WPXI-TV reports police have charged 33-year-old Mindy Conley with retail theft and corruption of minors for putting 37 items from a Sephora counter in a J.C. Penney store at Robinson Town Centre into her daughter’s baby stroller.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for the Rochester woman who faces a preliminary hearing June 18.

Township police Chief Dale Vietmeier tells the station that shoplifting is a problem at the mall a few miles west of Pittsburgh, but says this case was unique.

Conley’s daughter hasn’t been charged because police say she didn’t know her mother put the items in the stroller.
