A Bedford County man is in the county jail in lieu of $300,000 cash bail after police said he attempted to kill a woman with a board.
Michael Leroy Dicken Jr., 38, of Raystown Road, Everett, was arrested late last night after state police were called to his home in response to a domestic incident.
Police charged Dicken with criminal attempted homicide following his alleged attack on Diana Marie Dodson, 31, of the same address.
Dodson was taken to UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital then flown to Altoona Regional hospital. Her condition was not immediately known this morning.
Police allege that Dicken struck Dodson with a board, choked her and struck her on the head a number of times. Along with injuries to her head and a fractured face, Dodson also sustained injuries to her left leg.
The altercation allegedly surfaced after Dodson would not allow him to use their vehicle.
The attack occurred around 6 p.m. Monday.
In a separate release, state police reported that Dicken was arrested for drunk driving after a stop on West Street, Everett, shortly after midnight Sunday. His blood alcohol level was not available.
