ESPOSITO– Joseph A., 85, born March 19, 1924, in Johns- town, son of Rocco and Mary (Salvia) Esposito, beloved husband, father and grandfather, has gone to be with our Lord Nov. 6, 2009. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Charles and Sam; and sisters, Mildred Gerace, Lucy Tummino and Josephine Esposito. His passing ends a marriage union of 64 years to his devoted wife, Verna Varmecky Esposito. He was adored by his three daughters, Mary Jo, wife of Rod Kulyk, Cary, N.C.; Deborah, wife of John Icardi, Holly Springs, N.C.; and Diane, wife of Wayne Shoup, Johnstown. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jeremy Jaber; R.J. Kulyk; Justin Kulyk, and wife, Hannele; Erica Jaber Goff, and husband, Brandon; Lauren Jaber; Garrett Shoup; and Kelly Shoup. He also will be missed by his great-grandson, Quinn Goff. Joe was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force. He also was a lieutenant of detectives with the Johnstown Police force. After retirement, he was a car salesman for Rudy Haupt Chevrolet and Ron Davidson Chevrolet. He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he was a head usher and member of the men’s club. Joe also served on the board of the Johnstown Redevelopment Authority for more than 20 years. Joe willingly gave his time as a volunteer at LaurelWood Care Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, the Franciscan Friars OFM Conv. Committal, St. Francis Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday.
