Obituaries 11/10/2009

KRUEGER – George G. “Bud,” 92, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Richland Woods. Born May 25, 1917, in Wheeling, W.Va., son of the late Anthony W. and Mary Ann Krueger. Preceded in death by infant son, Stephen. Survived by loving wife, the former Marjorie Kerrigan, to whom he was married 57 years; children, Ann Watkins, and her husband, Bruce, and daughters, Meagan and Kelly, Springfield, Va.; Mary Hausauer, and husband, Steve, and sons, Zachary and Matthew, Reno, Nev.; Michael Krueger, and wife, Mary, and children, Stephen, Emily and Caroline, West Chester, Pa.; and Susan Marshall, and husband, Scott, and children, Caitlin, Kara and David, Pittsburgh. Brother of Madeline and Eleanor Krueger, both of Johnstown; and Mary Neely, Des Moines, Iowa. George was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 on the USS Mindanao in the Pacific theater. He graduated from Bliss Electrical School and was employed by City of Johnstown until 1982 as the city electrician. Member of Visitation of the BVM Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, and Retired Men’s Club. An avid Steeler, Fighting Irish and Crimson Crusher football fan, he was inducted into the Bishop McCort Football Hall of Fame in 1970. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Visitation of the BVM Church, McKinley Avenue. Following Mass, a committal service will be held at Grandview Cemetery, where Charles Monoher Post 155 VFW will hold graveside military rites. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Visitation Church Renovation Fund in his memory. (www.hendersonfuneralhome.com)
