Man arrested after car hits porch

A Maryland man was arrested for suspicion of DUI early Saturday after state police said his Toyota Tacoma slid off Fletcher Road and struck a porch at 118 Cumberland Highway.
Police said the pickup was driven by Edward Hedrick III, 27, of Cumberland, Md. The wreck occurred about 2:15 a.m. Saturday when the Tacoma was being driven at an unsafe speed and Hedrick lost control on the icy road, police said.
The porch was pushed about a foot off its foundation.
Hedrick was not injured. The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage.
In other police news:
• State police in Ebensburg are looking for whomever was driving a Pontiac that was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Colver Road, Cambria Township, about 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
Police said the vehicle slid off the road before striking a sign and then a house. The driver fled the scene in the vehicle heading toward the Colver/Carrolltown area on Colver Road.
• A Champion man’s car was destroyed after being set afire and left in remote woods in Donegal Township, state police in Greensburg said Saturday.
Police said the 2004 Volvo sedan was owned by Roger Quigley. It was taken just before midnight Dec. 29.
The investigation is continuing.
• State police are looking for whomever stole power tools from a construction site on Blue Rock Road in Donegal Township.
Dewalt drills and other Dewalt tools valued at $1,400 were stolen overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The tools were owned by Robert Snyder Contracting of Somerset.
The tools were taken from a newly built home.
