U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pittsburgh, made a brief campaign stop here Thursday.
At a visit to the Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped’s center in Cambria Township, Santorum posed for pictures with a few disabled workers.
He also presented an American flag and a proclamation to Lilly Mayor John Gides honoring the borough’s bicentennial.
And before leaving for his next campaign stop in State College, the senator paused briefly to talk to reporters, reiterating his support of the Bush White House and his conservative views.
Santorum, who is being challenged for re-election by state Treasurer Bob Casey, continues to support the war in Iraq.
“We can’t let terrorists take a dominant position,” he said. “We in America should not be lulled into a sense of false security right now.”
Santorum fired off two more views.
On hostages kidnapped in Iraq: “We must not negotiate with terrorists.”
On U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Samuel Alito: “He’ll be confirmed on a straight partisan vote.”
