Johnstown man accused of rape

BY PATRICK BUCHNOWSKI
The Tribune-Democrat

A Johnstown man was jailed Friday after police said he raped a woman in East Taylor Township.

In a court document, township police said Woodrow Wilson Taylor, 25, of Oakhurst Homes, allegedly raped the woman Thursday night.

The Tribune-Democrat does not identify victims of sexual assault.

Another individual reportedly told police that when Taylor was confronted about the incident, he admitted to the rape.

Taylor was charged with rape, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and harassment by physical contact.

He was arraigned by on-call District Judge Max Pavlovich of Richland Township and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post $75,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled Feb. 2 before District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco.

Township police were not immediately available to provide further details.
