UPDATE – PennDOT says inbound I-376 near Pittsburgh now open

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH The inbound lanes of Interstate 376 east of Pittsburgh have reopened, PennDOT said.

The lanes are closed early today due to a fatal crash that apparently involved a wrong-way driver.

The road was closed shortly after the accident about 4 a.m. near the Penn Hills interchange, several miles east of the city.

Police say it appears a Chevrolet sedan was driving eastbound in the inbound – or westbound lanes – when it hit a Volvo sport-utility vehicle. The driver of the Chevrolet is reportedly dead while the Volvo driver has been taken to a hospital.
