Two Blacklick Valley teens killed in crash; two others injured

BY KECIA BAL
The Tribune-Democrat

COLVER Two 16-year-old high school students were killed Saturday afternoon a one-vehicle crash.

State police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of driver Tiana Marie Rose of Vintondale and a passenger, Nicholas Maniccia of Twin Rocks, Cambria County Coroner Dennis Kwiatowski said.

Their Chevy Cavalier was traveling westbound on Snake Road near the intersection with Reed Hall Road when Rose lost control, and the vehicle crossed to the opposite side of the road, hit an embankment and crossed the road again before flipping and colliding roof-first into a tree, Kwiatowski said.

The crash was reported at 2:48 p.m. and Rose and Maniccia were pronounced dead 16 minutes later, Kwiatowski said.

Two other 16-year-old passengers in car were taken to area hospitals. Brooke Litzinger was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown and was reported in fair condition. Jeremy Toros was taken to Altoona Hospital. His condition could not be determined Saturday night.

Kwiatowski said family members were unsure where the four were headed.

All four teens in the car attended Blacklick Valley High School. School administrators said counselors will be available when when students return to class Tuesday.
