Preschool and kindergarten registrations are being held at area schools.
The following events, listed in order of date, have been submitted to The Tribune-Democrat:
• Central Cambria School District will hold kindergarten registration at its two elementary schools.
Cambria Elementary School will hold registration Tuesday and Wednesday.
Jackson Elementary School will hold registration Thursday and Friday.
To be eligible, a child must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 and be current with shots.
Parents are urged to bring the child along to register so he or she can be enrolled in the Child Find identification program.
The program is being sponsored by Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Cambria County with the assistance of parent teacher organizations.
For additional information or to register, call 472-8432 for Cambria Elementary or 749-8421 for Jackson Elementary.
• Cambria Heights School District’s prekindergarten registration for 2009-10 will be held Wednesday and Thursday at the elementary school in Carrolltown.
Children registering must be at least 4 years old by Aug. 31.
The child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records and the parent/guardian driver’s license or alternative proof of residency are required.
Registration packets are available prior to registration dates.

• Blacklick Valley School District will hold kindergarten registration April 16 and 17 at the school.
The child must be 5 years old by Sept. 1. Registration is by appointment only.
A screening for preschool will be held April 23. A child must be 4 by Sept. 1 to be eligible.

• Richland Elementary School will hold kindergarten registration from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28-30.
To register, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1.
Parents should contact the school at 266-5757 to schedule an appointment.
• North Star School District will hold registration for children who will enter kindergarten in the fall.
Registration will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29 and from noon to 7 p.m. April 30 at Central Elementary School in Boswell.
Children must be 5 years old on Sept. 1.
The child should accompany parents to the registration so that a brief screening evaluation can be done.

• Ferndale Area Elementary School will hold K4 and kindergarten registration in May.
Kindergarten registration will be held May 13. Children must be 5 years old before Sept. 1 to qualify.
Registration for K4 will be held May 14.
Children must be 4 years old before Sept. 1 to qualify.
