Greensburg man dies in crash
INDIANA – A Greensburg man died early Sunday in a one-vehicle crash in Rayne Township, Indiana County.
Joel L. Pryor, 22, died after losing control of his Ford Aspire while southbound on state Route 119. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled over in a field before striking a tree, state police in Indiana said.
The crash happened at 2:30 a.m. Pryor was pronounced dead at the scene by Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker.
Toxicology test are pending. No autopsy is planned, Baker said.
Robber uses scissors in Berlin theft
BERLIN – A man wielding a pair of scissors robbed the Dollar General Store at 506 Main Street in Berlin and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The incident happened at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
It was the fifth armed robbery in Somerset County in less than two weeks.
He fled on foot, police said.
He is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 foot 6 inches tall, with short dark-colored hair.
The man was wearing blue jeans, a faded green sweatshirt and a dark colored ball cap.
Anyone with information on the crime may call Berlin police at 445-1525.
Charges expected in Somerset wreck
SOMERSET – A Listie man is expected to be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a two-vehicle crash in Somerset Township, police said.
Keith D. Mayak, 32, was driving a Ford F150 pickup that pulled out of a parking lot of a BP service station on state Route 281 and struck another vehicle, state police in Somerset said.
Mayak failed to yield the right of way to Glen E. Fisher, 43, of Jenners, troopers said.
Mayak was taken to Somerset Hospital for a blood-alcohol test. The accident happened 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, troopers said.
Indiana police search for bicycle’s owner
INDIANA – Borough police have recovered a silver mountain bike in the 1200 block of Oakland Avenue.
The bike was found at 2:45 p.m. Saturday. The owner may claim it by contacting Indiana Borough police during normal business hours.
