CTC contract may mean 250 new jobs

By SHAWN PIATEK
The Tribune-Democrat

Concurrent Technologies Corp. of Richland Township announced Friday that it anticipates adding 250 or more workers as the result of a contract it recently won.

The award is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, IDIQ, Solutions for Intelligence Analysis contract. It is one of eight IDIQs with an anticipated combined contract ceiling of $1 billion during a five-year period.

The contract was awarded by the Defense Intelligence Agency, Virginia Contracting Activity, of Huntsville, Ala. The contract will enable rapid intelligence analysis support across the full spectrum of Department of Defense intelligence organizations.

“Essentially, we have won the right to compete for different tasks under the IDIQ,” said Ron Ball, general manager of CTC’s intelligence solutions.

“Only eight prime contractors are eligible to bid on the tasks that come out through this and we’re at the table with some pretty big players.”

Seven other companies – including industry heavyweights BAE Systems, Booz Allen Hamilton and Northrop Grumman – led winning teams in bidding for the contract. CTC’s team includes two large businesses and 30 small businesses, including MTS Technologies of downtown Johnstown.

“CTC has assembled a unique analytic team of businesses across the nation to leverage proven talent to support the defense intelligence community,” said Dan DeVos, CEO of CTC.

“This team has the experience, past performance and commitment to excellence that the government needs to support the global war on terrorism.”

Ball said it’s difficult to determine where the jobs created under this contract will be located. He said it will be a “truly global” work force, but ideally as many positions as possible will be retained at the company’s Richland headquarters.
