Pregnant girl slipped cow abortion drug, police say

WILLIAMSBURG - State police and Williamsburg Borough police are investigating an allegation that a pregnant Blair County juvenile was given Prostomate, a drug used in agriculture to force a cow to abort a calf.

State police also are investigating the theft of a bottle of Prostomate and a syringe stolen a few days prior to the incident from a farm in nearly Huston Township.

Charges of aggravated assault and aggravated assault of an unborn child are pending against what police are calling known suspects.

The Prostomate and syringe were stolen from the Donald Eastep farm on Clover Creek Road, Williamsburg, on March 23. Police allege that Prostomate was put in the girl’s drink at Williamsburg High School, March 31.

The unnamed girl consumed the drink. The impact of the drug, if any, was not made public.

Police said Prostomate is a drug farmers also use to bring cows into heat.

Solomon Holmes man charged with molesting girl

A Solomon Homes man will face Cambria County Court action for allegedly molesting a teenage girl during an underage drinking party at his residence Feb. 29.

Jason Ickes, 19, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Leonard Grecek of Roxbury. His bail was lowered to $10,000 from $50,000 on Thursday.

He posted bail Friday and was released from jail.

He was charged by Johnstown police with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, furnishing alcohol to a minor, corruption of minors, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A couple of other men also are facing hearings for their roles during the party.

Laurel Crest seeks new finance officer

EBENSBURG – Cambria County is seeking a new assistant finance officer for Laurel Crest, the county nursing home, the commissioners said Friday.

Mary Ann Ostinowsky, who held that job for several months, went off the payroll April 2, the commissioners said.

They declined to comment on the reasons for her departure.

She formerly had been business office manager and then brief held by position of chief financial officer before being named the assistant.
