NEW – Davidsville woman indicted on charges of bilking government of more than $200,000

Joyce A. Bowser, 62, of the 3100 block of Carpenters Park Road, Davidsville, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Johnstown on charges of taking more than $200,000 in government money.

According to the indictment, from Feb. 3, 1994, to April 3, 2008, Bowser falsely received and converted to her own use about $126,171, which represents about 171 Social Security Administration benefit payments made to her to which she was not entitled.

The indictment also said that she, from April 3, 2000, to April 3, 2008, also wrongly converted to her own use about $88,961, which represents about 97 Social Security benefit payments made to her to which she was not entitled.

The Social Security Administration conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
