A 41-year-old Claysburg man will spend more than three years in prison for having sex with a 13-year-old girl he says he turned to for companionship during his troubled marriage.
Blair County Judge Jolene Kopriva scolded Michael Beam, saying his acts with the girl were criminal and for wrongly having the perspective that “this entire situation was all about you.”
Prosecutors say the victim was the daughter of a longtime family friend. Beam, a father of three, told authorities his wife didn’t communicate with him as well as the girl.
Beam was sentenced Monday to 37 to 74 months in prison for statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor.
