New – Several area men injured in traffic accidents

State police are investigating a two-car crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in Somerset Township.

Authorities said a car driven by Matthew Peters, 22, of Friedens was stopped on Route 281 while attempting to turn left onto Albert Street around 3:10 p.m. when it was hit from behind by a car driven by Ashley June Sturtz, 24, of Stoystown.

Peters was taken by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. His condition was not immediately available.

Sturtz was not injured, police said.

State police said Sturtz will be cited for careless driving.

Three Cambria County men were injured in another wreck on Route 271 in Blacklick Township May 17, police said Friday.

State police said a pickup driven by Joseph Stiffler, 30, of Nanty Glo was traveling north when failed to round a curve, struck a guiderail and became airborne before coming to rest in a ditch.

Stiffler and two passengers in t he pickup, Craig Roush, 34, of Johnstown and Richard Hoover, 27, of Nanty Glo were injured, authorities said.
