NEW - Coal truck overturns, driver not hurt

The Tribune-Democrat

HOLLSOPPLE A coal truck driver escaped injury when his fully-loaded rig overturned at Route 403 and Ridge Road near Hollsopple early Thursday afternoon.

John Casper III, 59, of Stoystown, was descending a slight hill on Ridge Road and approaching a stop sign when he lost air pressure in the brakes while gearing down. State police said Casper was not able to get the truck into gear and not able to stop at the stop sign.

Police said he traveled across both lanes of Route 403, through a fence and property, and overturned.

Charges are pending, the report said.
