NEW – Sidman family sues Penelec over fire

The Tribune-Democrat

EBENSBURG A Sidman man and his family are suing Pennsylvania Electric Co. over a fire that destroyed their home and personal belongings.

Francis Zevorich, his wife, Becky, and her five minor children are seeking at least $75,000 from the utility for losses in the Aug. 26, 2008, fire at the house in the 100 block of Zevorich Road.

Johnstown attorney Joseph Messina, who represents the family, alleges the fire was caused by defective electrical wires owned and maintained by Penelec outside the house.

The lawsuit was filed May 27 in Cambria County court.

The utility has 30 days in which to file an answer.
