Driver hit cruiser, police say

Somerset Borough police are looking for a driver whose pickup is alleged to have struck a cruiser Friday night.

A news release issued by police said that when an attempt was made to stop him, the driver turned his vehicle around, drove at the police car and stuck the cruiser as it passed. Damage to the cruiser was “significant,” police said. The officer was not injured.

The incident began when an officer reported seeing a silver Dodge truck being driven recklessly in a hotel parking lot and on Laurel Crest Road. After hitting the patrol car, the truck drove onto North Center Avenue and then onto Waterlevel Road toward Rockwood, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to all 445-1525.
