NEW – Bedford County man dies in traffic accident

BEDFORD — A Bedford County man has died as the result of a single vehicle crash June 11, state police at Bedford reported this morning.

Harry Morgart, 76, of New Paris died at Altoona Regional Health System from the accident which occurred in West St. Clair Township shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Morgart was traveling north on Dunning’s Creek Road when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve and the 1995 Subaru Legacy he was driving went off the roadway and onto the east berm.

He overcompensated his steering and traveled back onto the roadway where he began to spin in a clock wise motion approximately 90 degrees. The vehicle traveled across the roadway more than 100 feet onto the west berm where it hit a tree.
