NEW - Three BiLo Foods stores to be sold

RANDY GRIFFITH
The Tribune-Democrat

Three area BiLo Foods stores are being sold.

“The stores are not closing,” said Chuck Beeler, spokesman for BiLo Foods-owner Penn Traffic Co. “There will be a transfer of ownership.”

The following BiLo stores are being sold:

• 81 Osborne St., Johnstown

• 1514 Jeffeson Ave., Windber

• 2423 Betts Ave., Northern Cambria

“These stores will remain BiLo stores,” Beeler said. “They will retain the BiLo name, but they will not be owned by Penn Traffic.”

Financially-troubled Penn Traffic has been evaluating all of its stores. BiLo Foods in Somerset and Altoona closed earlier this year.

“The company is an ongoing process of reassessing all of its stores,” Beeler said. “Penn Traffic is focusing on its core portfolio of store locations.”

There will be no disruption of operations, Beeler said.
