NEW – Pa. man jailed on charges he hit horse-and-buggy

Associated Press

KNOX A western Pennsylvania man is jailed on charges that he was driving drunk when his vehicle hit a buggy, killing the horse that was pulling it and injuring five people in the carriage.

Twenty-year-old Brandon Lee Breghenti, of Knox, faces a preliminary hearing July 14 for the crash about 10:10 p.m. Sunday.

State police say Breghenti hit the carriage from behind on Route 208. Two people in the carriage are being treated in Pittsburgh hospitals for their injuries, while three others in the buggy were treated for lesser injuries at Clarion Hospital.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Breghenti, who remains jailed Tuesday unable to post $75,000 bond.
