A week after police said he fired a shotgun near children at a local playground, Jeramey Johnson is behind bars and his father is charged with hiding him from police.
City police said Johnson, 18, threatened to shoot youngsters in a dispute at the Village Street playground July 8.
Johnson had been arguing with two teenage boys when he left and returned with a shotgun and fired a shot at a concrete wall, authorities said.
No one was injured and police later recovered a sawed-off, 12-gauge double-barreled shotgun.
Police said the recoil from the weapon caused it to strike Johnson in the head.
He was found hiding out in a garage in the 900 block of Bedford Street and was taken into custody without incident, city police Chief Craig Foust said.
Johnson was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Leonard Grecek of Roxbury on charges of reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, firearms violations and disorderly conduct.
He was sent to the Cambria County Prison on $25,000 bond.
His father, Terry Johnson, 48, was charged with hindering apprehension and obstructing justice.
He has yet to be arraigned.
