Elks approved for move to Geistown

Johnstown’s Elks lodge has received approval for a proposed move to the Geistown Country Club.
Geistown Borough Council voted unanimously to approve the Elks’ liquor-license transfer from downtown Johnstown to the club at 330 Teaberry Lane.
The lodge has sold its 104-year-old Locust Street headquarters to Franklin Street United Methodist Church, which may demolish the building to make way for more parking.
The Elks lodge is scheduled to vacate the downtown building by next week. Members have said they expected to complete their purchase of the country club after receiving Geistown council’s approval.
