Woman charged in card spree

— A Portage woman is accused of helping a man on a weekend spending spree that racked up more than $5,000 on a company credit card.
Mindy Marie Olshavsky, 27, of the 800 block of Sherman Street, is charged with dozens of misdemeanors for what police say was her role in helping Jerry Lee Spaid, 25, of Portage, in conducting 21 illegal credit card transactions.
In June, United Riggers issued a company credit card to Spaid to use for “fuel and job site materials and equipment purchases,” Ebensburg Borough police documents say.
Instead Spaid, with the help of Olshavsky and another woman, went on a spending spree with the card on June 14 and 15, police reports say.
Olshavsky and Nicole Terese Scarton, also of Portage, are listed as codefendants in court records.
Charges ranged from $10.01 at Sheetz in Portage to $469 at Wal-Mart in Johnstown and totaled $5,110 by the time the weekend was over, police reports say.
“Photos of Spaid, Nicole Scarton and Mindy Olshavsky conducting these transactions have been obtained from various businesses,” police said.
Spaid was charged with two felony counts and numerous misdemeanors earlier this month.
Charges against Olshavsky were waived this week to county court, where the case is pending.
Charges are pending against Scarton, police said.
